Call for Papers

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS Abstract Submission Deadline: 1 February 2026 (NZ time)

Nau Mai Haere Mai – Welcome! - We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 2026 Auckland International Gambling Conference – Reimagining gambling harm: Innovation, equity, and global connections.

Background

IGC 2026 aims to enhance the skills of the people who work in the gambling sector, sharing knowledge about the latest research, public health interventions and treatment techniques, and encouraging national and international collaborations.

This year’s theme is a reminder that to be successful in reducing gambling harm, we must work together, sharing our knowledge, and learning from each other. IGC 2026 will facilitate an environment where robust discussion and debate can be fostered, showcasing collaborative, innovative and equitable approaches.

IGC 2026 will focus on:

  • Examining gambling-related behaviours and resulting harms, while highlighting our adaptive strategies.
  • Navigating the evolving landscape of gambling, characterised by the emergence of novel and highly accessible gambling products.
  • Charting the growth and evolution of effective harm reduction methodologies, with a keen focus on technological advancements in this domain.
  • Acquiring a deep understanding and valuable insights into inequities experienced by various population groups affected by gambling-related harm, within the context of diverse gambling environments.
  • Recognising and celebrating the distinct journey of individuals, families, and communities as they progress from the impact of gambling harm towards a state of well-being. This is a deliberately broad and inclusive focus that we hope will incorporate the experiences and knowledge from other addiction fields so that we may draw on these, as we further explore different journeys across the sector.

The programme will include papers, workshops and posters addressing various aspects of the theme. We encourage submissions reflecting innovative practice and research that advances fundamental knowledge about harmful gambling and co-existing issues and informs gambling policy and professional practice.
